Mid American Conference Power Rankings Week 6

This week was a telling week in the Mid American Conference and as a result there was some movement in Detroit Jock City’s Mid American Conference Power Rankings Week 6.

Some teams in the MAC were finishing up their non-conference games while others were playing MAC opponents.  The result was a clear separation between the conferences elite teams and the others.

#1 Northern Illinois Huskies 5-0 overall 1-0 MAC

After knocking off their second Big Ten team this season, The Huskies opened up their MAC schedule on the road at Kent State.  The result was a 38-24 win but Northern Illinois gave up a lot of point to s suspect Golden Flashes offense. Could have been a little bit of a rust after a bye week.

#2 Ball State Cardinals 5-1 overall 2-0 MAC

The Cardinals had a won big over the Virginia Cavaliers 48-27 this weekend. They did it by racking up over 500 yards of total offense.  A very impressive win for the Cardinals who will continue their MAC schedule next week against Kent State. The game against Kent State will provide a direct comparison with the Northern Illinois Huskies.

#3 Ohio Bobcats – 4-1 Overall 1-0 MAC

The Bobcats opened their MAC schedule on the road against the Akron Zips. The result was a 40 point win as the Bobcats cruised to a 43-3 victory.  Although the Bobcats are talented, it will be tough for them to rise above Ball State and Northern Illinois without some direct comparisons.
