Miggy Is Back
It is clear that Miguel Cabrera isn’t 100%. heck he may not even be 50%. That said he is still clutch and proved that tonight against Sonny Gray. With Torii hunter on base, Miguel Cabrera planted a Sonny Gray fast ball over the left field fence in the 4th inning. It put the Tigers ahead 2-0 and it was all they would need with Justin Verlander on the hill.
The Oakland A’s did not go down without a fight. After Jed Lowrie lined a two-out double in the ninth, Joaquin Benoit would add to the suspense by hitting Yoenis Cespedes with a pitch bringing the tieing run to the plate. He would then get Seth Smith to pop out to Torii hunter to earn his second save of the series.
With the win the Detroit Tigers escape what would have been a very disappointing first round exit from the postseason. They move to the American League Championship series for the third straight year to face the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox eliminated the Tampa Bay Rays in 4 games.
