The Michigan State Spartans rolled over the Indiana Hoosiers to win on homecoming 42-28. The game was also the 500th at Spartan Stadium which hosted its first game in 1923.
The Spartan offense marked the occasion by having a very impressive day against the Hoosier defense. Connor Cook continued to improve. Cook was 22/31 passing for 235 yards and 2 touchdowns. Cooks impressive play made room for the Spartan running game which racked up 238 yards and four touchdowns. Jeremy Langford led Spartan rushers with 109 yards and two touchdowns.
It was by far the Michigan State Spartans best offensive performance of the year.
The defense also played well despite giving up 28 points to Indiana’s high-octane offense. The Hoosiers pulled within 7 mid way through the third quarter but then the defense locked it down. The Hoosiers added a touchdown in the fourth quarter after the game was out of reach. The Spartan defense gave up 259 passing yards but held the Hoosier rushing game under 1oo yards.
With the win the Spartans raise their record to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the Big Ten. They try to build on that when they meet Purdue nest week.
