Calvin Johnson is getting better, so much so that he practiced 3 times this week and is listed as probable for Sunday’s game against the Bengals.
Despite a great comeback victory against the Browns last week, the lions offense clearly missed Megatron. Having Calvin Johnson back in the line-up can only help as the Lions take on the Bengals #8 ranked defense lead by Gino Atkins. Having Johnson at full stretch will enable Stafford to get the ball out faster and avoid the rush of the Cincinnati Bengals defensive front.
Theo Riddick also returned to practice on Friday and if cleared could play a role on Sunday. Joique Bell is still nursing a tender knee and of Riddick is healthy he carry some of the load. The rookie out of Notre Dame could get an opportunity to show what he can do in a regular season game.
Rashean Mathis is also listed as probable for Sunday after missing time with a groin injury. The extra help in the defensive secondary will be needed to contain Bengal receiver AJ Green who some are calling the next best thing to Calvin Johnson.
Other injuries: Jason Fox is doubtful (knee), Tony Scheffler is out (concussion) Ashlee Palmer is probable (ankle) and Joique Bell is questionable (ribs)
