Detroit Lions Release Tony Scheffler

After suffering his third concussion in four years the Detroit Lions have released tight end Tony Scheffler.

According to reports, Scheffler, who has 22 career touchdowns wasn’t the same player after the latest concussion. Th move doesn’t cost Scheffler any salary because he was a vested veteran and his contract is guaranteed.

As injury news in the  NFL usually goes. What is bad news for one player is a opporunity for another. Schefflers’ release opens the door for tight end Joesph Fauira.

The undrafted free agent wowed fans when he caught three touchdowns a couple of weeks ago. Touchdown Joseph will be the moved up to second string and continue to see more playing time with departure of Scheffler.
