When the Dallas Cowboys meet the Lions at Ford Field on Sunday, it will be considered a huge game for both teams. The Lions are 4-3 and after a frustrating loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and are desperate to stay above the .500 mark. The Cowboys also come in 4-3 and want to stay atop the NFC East. Those are big enough motivators for both teams, right?
Apparently, Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant wanted to throw another log on the fire.
In comments made to a Dallas sports radio station, Dez Bryant says he can do whatever Calvin Johnson can do.
I think Calvin’s the best at what he [does]. I think I’m the best at what I do.”
At last check Dez Bryant and Calvin Johnson play the same position…don’t they? So the natural question to ask is whether Dez Bryant thinks Megatron is the best receiver in football. After a pause this was his answer.
“I believe I can do whatever he can do,” Bryant said. “I think it’s just a pride thing. When it comes to football, just being on the field, it’s a mindset and having a mentality. I honestly believe when I’m there, I’ll be feeling like there’s nothing I can’t do. Whatever the coaches ask me to do, I’m going to do it.
Listen, I like Dez. I think he’s one of the best receivers in the game right now,” Burleson said. “Very talented. Fast, big, strong. He possesses all the tools to possibly be as good as Calvin. But he’s not Calvin Johnson. No way, no how. Sorry, Dez. Keep it real.”
So why doesn’t Bryant just come right out with the old cliche, whatever he can do I can do better? Or maybe he could have went with the classic “if you want to be the best you got to beat the best.”
Either way Dez Bryant provided some great bulletin board material for Megatron and the rest of the Lions. Thanks Dez! Always good to have a little extra motivation.
