Central Michigan V Western Michigan Preview, Start Time, TV

The annual clash between hated MAC rivals Central Michigan Chippewas and Western Michigan Broncos takes place today (November 16) in Kalamazoo.  This year it is the Broncos turn to host the game and this years game has some interesting subplots.

Western’s season has been an unmitigated disaster. Expectations were high for the Broncos with new head coach P.J. Fleck at the helm. But the Fleck era has fallen flat by going 1-5 in the MAC and nothing else to play for.

Except of course to beat Central.

A win over Central would go a long way to easing the nausea caused by the Bronco’s 1 win season and maybe turn down the heat on PJ Flecks hot seat.

Central’s season took a turn for the worse after getting stomped by the Ball State Cardinals.  However that game was a week and a half ago and head coach Dan Enos has had plenty of time to prepare for his arch rival.

Enos is coming off his first bowl appearance as the Chippewas coach in 2012.  That bowl appearance raised expectations for the 2013 season but injuries and inconsistent play have derailed Central’s season and pushed them  into a must win situation against their arch rival. Central has to defeat Western if they hope become bowl eligible again.

Neither team will appear in the MAC championship game but they still have another trophy to play for.  If Central wins Saturday they will have the opportunity to play for the Michigan MAC trophy when they play the next week. Western was eliminated from consideration with their loss to Eastern last week.
