With the hot stove league in full swing a number of Detroit Tigers have been mentioned in trade rumors.  In fact unless your name is Miguel Cabrera or Justin Verlander you have probably been mentioned in a trade rumor over the last few days.

Some of the speculation is baseless but their more than a few that have merit.  In this post we will look at the rumors that could turn into a blockbuster trade that sends a big name Tiger out-of-town.

Max Scherzer

The rumor that has been around the longest in the Tigers interest in trading Max Scherzer.  The time may be right to trade the Cy Young award winner….if the price is right.

So why trade Max Scherzer

His value will never be higher than it is right now.  The Tigers are deep at starting pitcher and could trade Scherzer for top flight prospects.

Why Not Trade Him

He is the Cy Young award winner and getting to the world series will be significantly easier with Max on the roster. A top three of Verlander, Scherzer and Sanchez truly gives the Tigers three aces.
