The Michigan State Spartans are having one of the best season in recent memory. On Saturday the Spartans won their 11th regular season game by beating the Minnesota Golden Gophers 14-3. The 11 win season is only the 4th in school history.

The win also completes an undefeated Big Ten season (8-0) the first team in school history to accomplish that feat.

And that’s not all, the victory completes a step on the way to another school first.

The Spartan’s first BCS bid. Now the only obstacle remaining  is Ohio State and the Big Ten Championship game.

The defense was once again the biggest reason for the win..  The Spartans held the Minnesota offense to just 249 yards and 3 points. Another dominating performance by arguably the nation’s top defense.

The Michigan State Spartan offense was led on the ground by Jeremy Langford who rushed for over 100 yards again (134). He also added to his league leading mark of 15 rushing touchdowns.

Michigan State who came into the game ranked #11 will likely move up in the rankings after key losses suffered by teams in the Top 10.  That will help the Spartans case when BCS voters convene to decide the new standings out tomorrow.

The Spartans now turn their attention to the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Big Ten Championship Game next Saturday in Indianapolis.
