If you were one of those Detroit Sports fans still recovering from a Thanksgiving Day Lions Victory/Turkey induced coma, you might have missed the latest performances by The Detroit Pistons and Andre Drummond.
Andre Drummond is coming of age right in front of Detroit Pistons fans and it is something to see.
On Sunday December 1st Drummond reminded the NBA why he was a lottery pick in the 2012 NBA draft. The Detroit Pistons Center put up a career high 31 points and 19 rebounds against the Philadelphia 76ers. Just one short of the 30/20 mark, something only acheived by a few players.
In the post game press conference Detroit Pistons Head Coach Maurice Cheeks told the media that Andre Drummond likes to remind his coach how many double doubles he has.
In case you were, wondering the answer is 12…in just 19 games. That includes a streak of 9 consecutive double-doubles spanning from November 11th to November 22nd.
Drummond’s huge game against the Sixers started another streak.
In Wednesday’s 105-98 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, Drummond a had 24 points and 19 rebounds marking his third consecutive double-double.
That includes the game against in Miami were he scored 10 and pulled down 18 rebounds despite getting into foul trouble.
Andre Drummond’s only Achilles heel is foul trouble. Drummond plays so aggressively on defense that he opens himself up to frequent whistles. If he can learn to play with a bit more control on defense, Drummond will develop into the best big man in the NBA. If that happens the Pistons may not just make the playoffs but win a first round series.
