How To Avoid Road Construction On The Way To Monday Night Football

Monday Night Football is in town and that means a lot of people will be headed downtown today and this evening either to catch the game or just take part in the festivites.

Whether you are a season ticket holder or  fan making a rare trip to Ford Field you will want to avoid the orange barrels and get to the game on time.

Well Detroit Jock City has got you covered. Here are some areas you will want to avoid when heading to downtown Detroit today.

Fort Street Between Oakwood and Powell is closed in each direction. If you were planning on taking the back way to the game you might want to plan a different route.

8 Mile Road between Lasher and Telegraph has intermittent lane closures.  Would probably be okay if you were taking 8 mile during the day but you should avoid it like the plague during rush hour.

If you are from out-of-town and want to avoid the traffic snarls on I 75, try taking the lodge (M 10). Just get on the lodge from 8 mile  or I 75 and take to south into downtown.  Follow it all the way to Woodward or take the Larnard exit to Woodward.  Once you are on Woodward head north to Ford Field.

If you take this way you can see some of the best Detroit has to offer while avoiding sitting in the parking lot that s supposed to be I-75.

You can get traffic, construction and accident updates on the Michigan Department of Transportation website.
