If you are one of thousand of Detroit Lions fans making the trip to downtown Detroit for the Monday Night Football match-up with the Baltimore Ravens you better bundle up. The forecast for tonight’s game call for frigid temperatures and snow showers.

The official weather report from weather.com forecasts temperature to be around 15 degrees at game time.  Snow flurries are expected to start before the game and increase to snow showers during the game. That means that fans will have to deal with a couple of inches of snow on the drive home.

Of course the weather won’t affect the players or game within the friendly and warm confines of Ford Field but for the thousand of fans planning to tailgate before the game, temperature will definitely be a factor.

So ff you are one of those die hard tailgate party goers. Here are some things you can do to stay warm in Michigan’s frigid december temperature:

1. Layer Your Clothing. A tried and true method to stay warm in the cold Michigan weather, laying allows you to adjust your body temperature and also dry out wet clothing without exposing yourself to the harsh temperatures.

2. Use Hand Warmers: An old deer hunters trick you can by handwarmers at anywhere sporting goods are sold.  I suggest the disposable version that can be used and quickly discarded before you make your way into the stadium.

3. Drink Warm Beverages:  Beer and tailgating go together like peanut butter and jelly. But if you are looking for a warmer adult beverage try some Irish coffee or hot chocolate spike with buttershots.  The will still get you going without the chills.

4. For Goodness Sake Put A Shirt On: There are fans out their that will try to prove how tough they are by not wearing a shirt. Normally this is assuming but on a day like today it would be just dumb.  Exposing bare skin in these temperatures can quickly lead to frostbite and hypothermia.

Whether you are going to the game or just going downtown to party stay warm, be careful and have a great time. Lets show the world how classy Detroit Lions fans can be.
