If someone would have said that the Detroit Lions keep the Ravens from scoring a touchdown, you would have assumed a Detroit victory.
Instead interceptions, bad penalties and clock mismanagement cost the Lions a golden opportunity to win on Monday Night Football. And it was the Baltimore Ravens who walked away with the win 18-16.
The player of the game for Baltimore wasn’t Joe Flacco or Ray Rice but kicker Justin Tucker. Thats right a kicker single-handedly outscored the Lions offense by kicking 6 field goals. The longest of which was a 61 yard field goal with :38 seconds left to ice the game and effectively end the Detroit Lions season.
The Lions did try to put together a game winning drive but Matt Stafford continued his turnover streak by throwing his 3rd interception on the Lions final drive of the game.
The Lions have lost 4 of their last 5 games. Tonight’s loss drops them to third in the NFC North and now need several teams to lose in order to make the playoffs.
There are a lot of fingers to be pointed. Especially at the head coach who has made several questionable calls during the Lions stretch run.
Whether Bill Ford and Martin Mayhew will decide to move forward with Jim Schwartz or begin the search for another coach is uncertain. One thing is certain, if the Lions are going to make the playoffs, something has got to change.
