Do You Believe In Miracles? Things Are Falling Into Place For The Detroit Lions

Do you believe in miracles?

Well you might want to start because there might be one brewing at Ford Field.

The Lions need a lot of help to climb back into playoff contention but it seems like things are falling into place to get the Lions the help they need.

The first piece affects the Lions directly as the New York Giants star Wide Receiver Victor Cruz will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing knee surgery.

Cruz has had a troublesome season and was recently cleared to play after recent concussion issues.  But with the Giants season all but over after being passed in the standings by the Eagles and Cowboys, the G-men decided to shut Cruz down and get him right for 2014.

The second piece involves division rival Green Bay Packers.  Despite losing Aaron Rodgers for several weeks with a shoulder injury, the Packers have hung around to be in position to take the division by winning the last two games.

But in a surprise move the Green Bay Packers have ruled out Aaron Rodgers for the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

As an organization we do not feel like we are ready for him to play,” coach Mike McCarthy said. “He’s not medically cleared, that’s still the case today. As an organization, we don’t think this is the right time for him to play.”

And so the Packers will look to quarterback Matt Flynn to keep their playoff hopes alive despite having only signed with the team just before Thanksgiving.

This injury is key considering the Packers have total control of their postseason destiny by winning their final two games.

So are these key player injuries enough to help the Lions get back into the playoff race? Can the Lions take advantage and get a win against a New York Giants team that is already booking plane tickets for their offseason vacations?
