The was an unexpected addition to the Detroit Lions inactives list this week. Rashean Mathis has been made inactive due to illness.  Chris houston who was questionable on friday is also inactive with the injury to his toe.

That means that Darius Slay who was not expected to play will be available in case of emergency.

This makes the Lions very thin at corner and will start Jonte Green and Bill Bently according to Detroit Lions insider Tim Twentyman.  former practice squad member Chris Greenwood and safety don carey will play the slot corner position in the nickel.

The razor thin personnel issue at corner raises concerns for the Lions beyond this game.  If the Lions are able to make the playoffs they will need their full compliment of players at the corner, long recognized as the weak point in the defense.

The good news is that the Giants will be going without a key offensive weapon.  Victor Cruz was ruled out on Thursday following surgery and is done for the rest of the regular season.
