Tomorrow Michigan Wolverines will take the field in Tempe Arizona to face the Kansas State Wildcats in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.
The (7-5) Wolverines stumble into the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl after a disappointing season that saw them finish 5th in the Big Ten Legends Division. Big Blue was ranked as high as 11th but upset losses to Penn State and Nebraska started a slide that ended in losses to arch rivals Ohio State and Michigan State.
The Kansas State Wildcats also finished the season 7-5 but took a different road to get there. The Wildcats started the season 2-4 but reeled off 4 straight conference victories to become bowl eligible for the fourth consecutive year.
The meeting between the Michigan Wolverines and Kansas State Wildcats will be the first time these historic programs have played.
The Wolverines announced Thursday that quarterback Devin Gardner would not start in the game because of a tor fracture. Now the pressure shifts to true freshmen quarterback Shane Morris to lead the Michigan Wolverines to victory. Morris played in just four games and attempted just 8 passes for the Wolverines, none of which resulted in a touchdown. The bright lights of a bowl game may be too much for a true freshmen making his first collegiate start.
Kansas State is led by All-America Candidate Tyler Lockett. Lockett is a dynamic receiver and kick returner that helped a Wildcat offense average 33 points per game. The Michigan secondary has been suspect this season so Lockett could be in for a big day.
High Scoring Affair
If Wolverines QB Shane Morris is as his recruiting profile advertises, this game could be a high scoring affair. Both teams are not known for their defense and both feature big play offensive ability.
