If you tuned in and expected to see the typical battle between the Indiana Hoosiers and Michigan State Spartans you got something unexpected.  Instead Spartan fans were treated to a blow-out victory as the Green and White spanked Indiana on the road 76-53.

The Spartans started 4 guards and played an up tempo style.  Sophomore guard Gary Harris led the scoring with 26 points in the return to his home state. Keith Appling chipped in 14 as the Spartans showed their depth and ability to change the style of play to gain advantage.

Despite losing two key players to the NBA draft at the end of last season, Indiana is still talented and Assembly Hall is still one of the toughest places to play in the Big Ten.

The Michigan State Spartans had the look of a National championship contenders on Saturday.  After an impressive non-conference season, that included a win over #1 Kentucky, the Spartans have scored two impressive road wins in early Big Ten play.

The win against Indiana bumps the Spartans road record to a perfect 7-0 and 13-1 overall.  It is great start to a season that has championship  aspirations.

The Spartans will face their biggest Big Ten test yet when they face #3 Ohio State in the Breslin Center on Tuesday. Although it is early in the Big Ten season, the game against the undefeated Buckeyes could factor into deciding the Big Ten Championship.
