San Diego Chargers V Cincinnati Bengals: Sorry Chargers, Detroit Is Rooting For Cincinnati

Sorry San Diego Charger fans but Detroit is rooting for the Cincinnati Bengals in your playoff game today.

It’s not you. It’s us.

No hard feelings, We like San Diego and the weather in Southern California (just ask the Spartans) but we want your offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt to be our next head coach.

If you make a run deep in the playoffs the Lions may be forced to wait to make a decision on their next  head coach until they get a chance to interview Whisenhunt.

Waiting could be devastating for our franchise because all the other quality candidates could be off the board if you end up going to the Superbowl. Waiting could mean that we don’t get Ken Whisenhunt and therefore have to settle for the Mike Shermans of the coaching world.

We aren’t asking you to lose on purpose.  Of all the fan bases in the NFL we know how rare it is to get a playoff win much less a playoff appearance.

We just don’t want you to win.

So take your 9-7, warm weather loving, lightning bolt wearing, no running game having, cinderella shoe wearing butts back to the warmth of the Golden State and leave business of winning in the playoffs to us Midwesterners.

Just for this season.  You can try to make a run next year.

Again no hard feelings.
