When you are interviewing head coaching candidates you have to cover all of your bases. Martin Mayhew and the Detroit Lions are doing just that and have scheduled recently fired Tennessee Titans Head Coach Mike Munchak for an interview.
Former Titans HC Mike Munchak is scheduled to interview Friday with Lions regarding their HC position, per @Edwerderespn.

Munchak was fired from the Titans for allegedly refusing to fire key assistants, namely his offensive and defensive coordinators. Munchak told NFL.com that being told to make changes to his staff wasn’t a position he wanted to be in.
I can’t fire someone when I don’t believe they should be fired. Firing someone is awful. Too many people were going to be affected,” Munchak told The Tennessean’s Jim Wyatt on Sunday. ” … For me to maintain a job and a lot of guys lose jobs on a plan I didn’t think was right, I couldn’t do that. I’ll make tough decisions, but not if they’re not right.”
Whether he got fired for not replacing staff or not, the bottom line on Munchak is that he is a losing NFL head coach. Munchak is 22-26 in three years as an NFL head coach. Considering the Lions are trying to make the playoffs, Munchak might not possess the skill set the Lions need to get to the next level.
