The injury bug just keeps knawing at the Michigan State Spartans roster. The latest victim is forward Branden Dawson who suffered a broken hand after slamming it on a table during a film session.
Dawson had surgery today and will be out 4-6 weeks.
With Adreian Payne already on the shelf with a foot sprain, the injury to Dawson will present Tom Izzo with an interesting problem when they host Michigan on Saturday.
Izzo has said repeatedly that he will not start Adreian Payne until he is 100%. He may have had that luxury with the depth the team had but without Branden Dawson available, Izzo may be forced to start Payne for the first time in 4 games.

If Tom Izzo continues to rest Payne, the Spartans may be starting a combination of Gary Harris, Matt Costello and Alex Guana in the front court against Michigan.
Michigan is 6-0 in Big Ten play and a loss to the Wolverines would drop the Spartans into second place in the Big Ten.
