Reports coming from the morning skate at Joe Louis Arena ahead of Friday night game against the Montrel Canadiens are a case of good news/bad news.

The good news…

Daniel Alfredsson looks like he is ready to play.

The bad news… Pavel Datsyuk and Todd Bertuzzi are skating but not ready to play

Another interesting line combination suggested by the morning skate is that of Tomas Jurco-Riley Sheahan-Tomas Tatar. It offers Red Wings fans a glimpse into the future and gives the youngsters an opportunity to gel.  A silver lining in the black cloud of injuries that have hung over the Wings this season.

Healthy scratches for the Red Wings in the game against the Montrel Canadiens include Todd Bertuzzi and Yakub Kindl.

Howard Close To A Return

Jimmy Howard took shots today at the morning skate and according to reports showed no ill effects.  Ansar Khan of MLive tweeted after the skate that Howard “felt good” and will be reevaluated on Tuesday.  If that evaluation goes well, Howard could be available for the game at Philadelphia.
