To say Mikel Leshoure spent  a lot of time on the bench last year is an understatement.  In fact, Leshoure was inactive for the vast majority of Lions games last year and was bumped on the depth chart behind rookie Theo Riddick.

Well it appears that 2014 may be a new year with a fresh start for the former 1st round draft pick.  Martin Mayhew meet with Detroit media from the combine today and said that Mikel LeShoure could have a role with the Detroit Lions this season.

Detroitlions.com insider Tim Twentyman provided further insight into how Mikel LeShoure may fit into the Detroit Lions offense in 2014 during an interview on Shep In The Morning. “If you look at what New Orleans did on offense last season…they used four backs”.  Newly hired offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi was the quarterbacks coaches in New Orleans last season.

Jim Caldwell said that the Lions would run the ball much more this season.  Apparently that strategy will include giving more carries to running backs Theo Riddick and Mikel Leshoure. surely that will be a welcome change to Leshoure who hardly saw the field in during the 2013 season.
