NFL Free Agency: Detroit Lions Sign WR Golden Tate

The Detroit Lions finally have a compliment to Calvin Johnson by signing arguably the top Free Agent Wide receiver of this years class.  Former Seattle Seahwak Goldne Tate has agreed to a 5 year $ 31 million deal with the Lions.

The Lions targeted Golden Tate from the very begining and got their man.  Tate reportedly flew into Detroit Tuesday night and spent the day Wednesday meeting with Lions coaches and players. According to a tweet by Tim Twentyman or Detroitlions.com, Tate spent an extended period of time with Lions Chairman Bill Ford Jr.

There was nothing secret about the Lions courtship of Tate. Twitter was buzzing with Tate updates and sports talk radio was field calls and texts of possible Golden Tate sightings.

Tate’s cap number should be around 6 million leaving the Lions a little room to sign free agents that could add depth to the club this coming season.
