March Madness Prediction

It’s the eve of March Madness and the NCAA Tournament is here. All I can think about is my bracket. It’s finally completed and I’m not allowing myself to watch anymore SportsCenter or read anymore articles to sway my selections until the official games begin tomorrow.

I don’t foresee many upsets this tournament season as many do.  What we don’t have is a clear front runner which makes the top 16 teams more intriguing. There is not a team seeded outside of the top four that will make the final four.

It’s insulting that Louisville was even seeded that low. The same story goes for tournament favorite Michigan State, injury problems all season are the only reason it happened to them. The world saw the real Michigan State last week during the Big Ten Tournament when they were at full strength and handily beat contenders Wisconsin and Michigan.

Therefore they are a shoe in for my final four. Joining them in my Billion Dollar Bracket entry I have Florida, Arizona and for my surprise team, Michigan. To make matters more interesting I have the mitten state playing in the final game.

It took me all I had not to send Louisville into the National Championship because of how consistent they have been in this tournament under Rick Pitino. His level on March consistency is compared to Tom Izzo’s.  Michigan has been rolling as the underdog all season even while winning the Big Ten Championship outright. I anticipate their momentum will continue. Michigan knows they can potentially have a rematch against Louisville and if that isn’t motivation enough then I don’t know what is.

I have Michigan State defeating Michigan in the National Championship over Michigan for one reason only. This is the longest stretch of the season they have been completely healthy and they appear untouchable. This is hard for me as a die hard Michigan fan to admit. If Michigan can win the whole thing I will be a happy camper though. Whether it be a team led by Tom Izzo or John Beilein, it’s about time the state of Michigan has a National Champion again.
