Big news from Detroit Pistons this hour as the NBA looks to host its first ever outdoor game in Detroit. Completely unsubstantiated reports out of Auburn Hills state that the game dubbed the “Street Ball Classic” will be held at Comerica Park in April of the 2014-15 season.
The first ever “Street Ball Classic” hopes to piggyback off the success enjoyed by the NHL for their series of outdoor games. The downtown location of the game could also test the viability of moving the Pistons franchise back to the Motor City.
The NBA could be planning to turn the days surrounding the game into a “Basketball Fest” that might include a 3 on 3 tournament, a Pistons vs Bulls alumni game and basketball clinics for the kids.
The “Street Ball” classic could take place on April 1st and would require the Detroit Tigers to open the baseball season on the road. If the event were to happen, it would create a festival atmosphere in downtown Detroit through the first couple of weeks in April that would hypothetically mean millions area businesses.
At the time of this post Detroit Jock City could not get anyone from Palace Sports and Entertainment or the Detroit Pistons to confirm or deny the story. This is probably because the story is completely fictional.
April Fools from Detroit Jock City.
