Detroit Red Wings Playoffs Start Tonight Versus the Boston Bruins

I admit that Hockey is 4th on my list of both knowledge and love, however as I live and die with any Detroit sports team I root for them as hard as any of the teams.  I really did not start paying attention to them till the mid to late 90s when I was in high school and one of my best friend Jason Wolny and his parents introduced me to playoff hockey and the fact that Detroit had not won the Stanley Cup for 38+ years at that time.  I knew about Steve Yzerman but that was it and with each excruciating loss in the playoffs at that time my love for Hockey grew, I was now as interested in the Red Wings as I was for the other 3 professional Detroit teams.  So I can definitely credit my pain and happiness with the Red Wings to the Wolny family, Thanks for introducing me to such a frustrating experience as the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

All of that being said the Detroit Red Wings start their Stanley Cup chase tonight versus the President Cup winners the Boston Bruins.  These two cities are the same sports wise in that they both have 4 professional sports teams and they both have had long droughts in Championships until recently.  The Red Wings are the only team with a winning record against the Bruins in the regular season.

The Detroit Red Wings have a good shot at beating the Boston Bruins if the young kids do not let the situation get to them.  Jimmy Howard has got to step up his game for the playoffs, and Gustav Nyquist, Riley Shehan, and Tomas Jurco have to continue playing the way they have the second half of the season.  Boston is clearly the more experienced team, however I believe the Red Wings have a good shot at defeating them.  My prediction for the series is Red Wings in 6 games.
