In November of 2013 the NFL announced which teams would play in the London game on October 26th. The Detroit Lions were chosen to play the Atlanta Falcons in Wembley Stadium.
Now before you start cursing and sending hate mail to Rodger Goodell, take a breath because it could have been worse.
It could have been a home game.
The lucky NFL team that is chosen as the home team for the neutral site game in London has to give up a home date. That means the Atlanta Falcons will play once less game in Atlanta this season, while the Lions will have their full slate of game in the friendly confines of Ford Feild.
This could be significant considering the Falcons could be one of the teams the Lions will be battling for a playoff spot. That makes the London game an important one on the Lions schedule this season. It is fortunate that the Lions that it doesn’t cost them a home game.
