2014 Detroit Lions Schedule: Thanksgiving Day Game Will Feature Chicago Bears

Prior to the schedule being released, Detroit Lions fans expected to see an AFC slated as the Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day opponent. Instead the Lions will host the Chicago Bears in what promises to be an important game in the playoff picture.

The Thanksgiving game will be the first time the Lions face the Bears in the 2014 season.  The Lions face the Bears again on week 16 meaning they will face their division rival twice in four weeks and all during the stretch run.

The good news here is if the Lions are behind the Bears by as many as two games they will have a chance to catch them and stay in playoff contention. However if the Lions are atop the NFC North before Thanksgiving, the Bears will have a chance to catch them much like they did last year when the Lions crumbled during the second half of the season.
