It has been a crazy week for Ndamukong Suh. After refusing to show up for voluntary workouts and mini-camps, media and fans alike have been sounding off on Suh and his apparent disrespect for the Lions organization.
Rumors even began circulating this week that the Lions were looking to trade the all-pro defensive tackle for a high draft pick.
However today, CBS sports writer Jason Lacanfora Tweeted today that the Lions are still trying to sign Ndamukong Suh despite all the negative press and trade rumors.
I’m told Lions trying to re-sign Suh; no trade ahead. He’s on the same offseason program last 3 years. Absence not contract related

By reading into this tweet a little bit, it seems the Detroit Lions are viewing Ndamukong Suh’s no-show as business as usual.
Well certainly all the extra press and distraction the Suh issue is continuing to cause is not something the Lions had planned in their off-season schedule.
With all the good free agents already off the market it is unclear why the Lions would be trying to sign Suh to an extension when there is nothing to be gained. Clearly Suh wants out of Detroit and if the Lion’s roster is close to being set, why bend over backwards to sign him now. A lot can happen in a football season and Ndamukong Suh is just a groin stomp or late hit away from seriously effecting his free agent value. Detroit should eat his contract this year and see what the season has in store.
