Ndamukong Suh Trade Talk Is Not Serious

Rumors have been all over the internet this week about the Detroit Lions attempting to trade Ndamukong Suh.  Most have been rumors until today. Earlier today, the first reputable source has stepped forward that give the rumors some teeth…kind of.

Confirmation of the rumor came in a story by Mike Freeman, the Bleacher Reports lead NFL writer. Freeman says that while it is fact that the Lions have talked about trading Suh, nothing serious has developed.

The first thing you must understand about Detroit and Ndamukong Suh is that the Lions have indeed had conversations with other teams about trading Suh. This is a fact. What is also true: It’s been just talk and not even serious talk. Just a feeling-out of other teams to see what they would be willing to give up for Suh.

This means, quite simply, the Lions are covering their asses, just in case the worst happens. They are gauging interest, seeing what they might be able to get in terms of draft picks, while also not even coming close to pulling any trigger on a trade.

So does that mean Martin Mayhew was out drinking with some NFL GM’s this week and said “Hey any of you guys want Suh?” Not sure if you could have talk about the trading one of the NFL’s biggest names without being serious.

Either way nothing on a Ndamukong Suh trade is imminent. So before fans start applauding or cursing the Detroit Lions for the move they should realize there is a long way to go before such a complicated deal to be finalized.

There is bound to be more news on Ndamukong Suh over the weekend.  When it does break log on to Detroit Jock City to get the Detroit perspective.
