NFL Trade Rumors: Oakland Raiders Are Open For Draft Day Trade

The Oakland Raiders have the number five pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.  With the depth of this years draft, one would think that the Raiders would be satisfied with one of the top five players in the draft.  But according to a tweet by NFL Writer Ian Rapoport the Raiders could be willing to deal the pick on Draft Day.

Any NFL fan worth his salt might say this is a smoke screen, but this is the Raiders we are taking about. If the Raiders are anything they are unpredictable especially on draft day.

So how does this affect your Detroit Lions?

Considering the Lions not-so-secret love for Clemson wideout Sammy Watkins, they may be interested in trading up to number 5.  In order to pull that off the Lions would most likely have to deal a player like Ndamukong Suh. A trade involving the Lions defensive tackle is not out of the realm of possibility as Martin Mayhew has been rumored to be shopping him.

To further thicken the plot, the Raiders are one of the only teams in the NFL with enough cap space to absorb Ndamukong Suh’s contract.

To make things even more interesting, Sammy Watkins himself has been tweeting that he knows of a team willing to trade up in the draft to get him if necessary.

So if the Raiders are willing to trade the #5 pick, will the Lions be the team to pounce on the deal? One thing is certain, the coming week leading up to the draft promises to be very interesting.
