Could LeBron James Become A Detroit Piston?

Could LeBron James be a Detroit Piston? Some people are wondering where he will end up if he decides to opt out. I say why not Detroit? The Pistons are a team headed in the right direction and have a lot of room under the salary cap.

Factor in the emergence of Andre Drummond, young sharp shooters with potential in Singler and Caldwell-Pope, athletic power forward Josh Smith, and almost thirty million dollars the Pistons are under the salary cap and the Pistons can afford to sign a marquee free agent and maybe make a deal to get a good supporting cast player.

So who’s available? LeBron James can opt out but it’s more than just him. Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Trevor Ariza, Ray Allen, Kyle Lowry, Rudy Gay, Mike Miller, Luol Deng, Josh McRoberts, Danny Granger, Lance Stephenson, and Evan Turner just to name a few.

Most of the players mentioned are at positions of need being at small forward and shooting guard. The Pistons should be able to make a run at a few of these players but everything is predicated on the hiring of a marquee coach and general manager.

The hiring of a top flight coach and general manager are imperative. It lets the free agents know that the Detroit Pistons franchise is about winning and we will stand for nothing less than becoming a title contender.

I’m not saying we will definitely get any of those names of this list but we have the potential to get vital pieces to build a championship contender. In this day and age of sports one thing is certain, you got to pay to play.
