2014 NFL Draft: Detroit Lions Draft Kicker Nate Freese In 7th

Well the Detroit Lions Draft has come to a merciful end with their 7th round pick. With that pick the Detroit Lions selected Nate Freese, kicker from Boston College.

The pick of Nate Freese was just as unusual as the Lions draft itself. Freese was the 3rd kicker selected in the 2014 NFL draft despite other highly rated kickers on the board.

That said according to a piece written by Lions insider Tim Twentyman, Nate Freese hasn’t missed a field goal since his junior year.

“I was talking with coach about that today, actually, and I can’t really remember,” Freese told detroitlions.com when asked about his last miss. “I think it may have been Wake Forest my junior year.”

If the Lions new kicker can put together that kind of consistency on the NFL field, it will go a log way to finally replacing Jason Hanson.
