2014 NFL Draft: Detroit Lions Select WR TJ Jones In Sixth Round

The Detroit Lions have selected wide receiver TJ Jones for Notre Dame in the sixth round.  Jones was a weapon in the slot for the Fighting Irish last season probably won’t figure into the role with the 2014 Detroit Lions.

General Manager Martin Mayhew said he wanted players who could also play special teams in the later rounds.  TJ Jones will be asked to contribute on special teams before he sees many footballs on offense.

Lions Insider Tim Twentyman disagrees. Tweeting shortly after the pick Twentyman thinks Jones will figure into the slot this season.

One point that can’t be argued is that the Lions are focused on the passing attack this season.
