Max Scherzer Pitches Complete Game Shut-Out In Tigers Win

With Justin Verlander stumbling fans have been wondering who will emerge as the new ace of the Detroit Tigers rotation.  Max Scherzer has made a case that he is the teams ace ever since winning the CY Young.  With tonight’s complete game shut-out he cemented his status as the Detroit Tigers top starter.

Max Scherzer tossed a 3 hit complete game shut-out, the first of his career, to lead the Tigers to a 4-0 victory. It was just what the Tigers needed after getting smoked by the White Sox 8-2 on Wednesday night.

Scherzer was asked on the field after the game how it felt to throw his first complete game by Fox Sports Detroit’s Mickey York.

“Now you guys can shut-up” Scherzer said with a smile referring to criticism of his ability to finish a game on the mound.

The win bumps Max Scherzer’s record to 8-2 and with improvement in every start Mad Max looks to be in-line for another 20 win season.

V-Mart Goes Yard….again

Victor Martinez put the Tigers on the board with a line drive shot to left field in the 5th inning.  Martinez is having arguably his best season at the plate batting .329 with 16 home runs. V-marts highest home run total is 25 in 2007 and he is on track to eclipse that mark this season.
