Greg Monroe spent a portion of the off-season in New Orleans doing charity events for his hometown. Now it appears that the New Orleans Pelicans have expressed interest in bring Monroe home for good.
Hearing a sign & trade package deal involving Detroit’s Greg Monroe and N.O.’s Ryan Anderson has been discussed.

Power Forward Ryan Anderson is no stranger to Stan Van Gundy’s system. He played with SVG in Orlando and played a major role in the offense. From that perspective the rumor makes sense.
Now here is how it doesn’t….
Ryan Anderson is a power forward. So trading for him would give SVG the same problem he had before. Of course unless you bring one of these guys off the bench.
The other option is to play either Smith or Anderson out of position at small forward. Something Anderson has done before but Josh Smith has been ineffective at doing.
That said the trade fits Van Gundy’s goal of getting something of value for Monroe. Anderson provides that value and also eliminates the drama that has been brewing between Josh Smith and Greg Monroe.
Is it possible that when the dust settles on July 10th that the Pistons would have traded both Smith and Monroe? Crazier things have happened.
