2014 MLB All Star Game Selection Show Preview, Start Time

Whether you believe it on not we are just past the midway point of the baseball season and that means the mid-summer classic is upon us. The 2014 MLB All Star Game Selection Show will air on ESPN before Sunday night baseball.  At that time final fan voting totals will be revealed as well as the each managers picks to fill out the American and National League roster.

Miguel Cabrera will likely represent the American League at 1B.  At last count Cabrera had a sizeable lead in voting and will likely be the fans choice to start at 1B.

2B Ian Kinsler was trailing Robinson Cano at second despite Cano’s declining offensive numbers and move to Seattle.

Victor Martinez also recieved a bit of a snub from the fans.  After posting MVP like numbers through the 1st half of the season, Martinez will be denied a starting spot in the line-up in favor of Nelson Cruz who has had a comeback year as Baltimore’s designated hitter. That said, V-Mart will probably be selected by American League John Farrell as a bat off the bench.

There are a couple of other Detroit Tiger’s  who have a shot be be named to the American League squad. As reigning Cy Young award winner, Max Scherzer has a solid chance to be named especially considering a strong performance in the first half of the 2014 season.

Rick Porcello has also had an excellent start that has him at the top of the leaderboard of wins in the American League.  He made a final case to joing the team during his last start by throwing his second consecutive complete game.

Watch the 2014 MLB All Star Selection Show tonight to see if these or any other Detroit Tigers make the cut.
