Throughout 4th of July weekend there was a frenzy of Greg Monroe rumors. Columnists and bloggers speculated as to Monroe’s feelings toward the Pistons and his teammates. Some even reported that Monroe asked for Josh Smith to be traded, rumor quickly dismissed by the Pistons.
But in the few days leading up to the end of the free agent moratorium the web went as quiet as a small coastal town waiting for a storm.
The news storm everyone is waiting for is Hurricane LeBron and like a category 5 no one is going anywhere until it passes.
While LeBron James has the basketball word waiting on his decision. One of the players waiting patiently is Greg Monroe.
Greg Monroe is arguably the fourth best free agent available. He has reportedly received interest from several teams but a solid offer has yet to emerge. The reason is that teams with enough available cap space to sign Monroe are also in the running for either LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony or Chris Bosh. That means any solid offers for Monroe probably won’t materialize until those contracts are resolved.
So once again the entire basketball world waits for LeBron James to make his choice. Until he does we will have to wait to learn what the future hold for Greg Monroe and the Detroit Pistons.
