NBA Free Agency Rumors: Detroit Pistons Close To Signing Caron Butler

Updated at 11:00 pm

According to NBA insider Marc Stein of ESPN, the Detroit Pistons are close to signing Caron Butler.

Butler revitalized his career after an impressive playoff run with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Butler signed with Oklahoma City after being released by the Milwaukee bucks in February.  It turned out to be a great signing for OKC as Butler played a key role off the bench averaging 6.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 23 minutes.

In fact Thunder super star Kevin Durant made a strong recruiting effort to retain Butler but it seems Stan Van Gundy is close to signing the free agent small forward to play at the Palace in 2014.

Caron Butler is  34 years-old and was the 10th overall pick by the Miami Heat in the 2002 NBA Draft.
