The Detroit Tigers signed Joel Hanrahan in hopes that he would bolster the teams bullpen sometime after the all-star break. Now it seems it will be a miracle if he is back before the end of the season.
Hanrahan who signed an incentive laden contract in May, has suffered another set-back in his road to recovery.
The Detroit Tigers knew when they signed Joel Hanrahan there was a risk of him not being able to play this season. It was a decent risk to take considering the price tag. But as the season wears on and the need for a bullpen arm increases the Tigers were hoping Hanrahan could help the team this year.
Now it appears that Hanrahan won’t be available for the stretch run making the need to acquire a bullpen arm even more apparent.
A course of action and timeline for the reliever won’t be available until he is examined. Until then the Tigers have to figure anything they can get from Hanrahan this season will be a bonus.
