Expectations Are High For David Price Debut Against Yankees

The acquisition of David Price had seamheads proclaiming Detroit as the favorites in the American League.  Adding Price to a rotation that already contains two recent CY Young winners had Tigers fans dreaming of their first world series championship in 30 years. That is a lot of pressure for anybody and the Tigers are hoping the David Price can rise to the occasion.

David Price will look to get is Detroit Tigers career off to a good start when he takes the ball in Yankee Stadium and he could not have asked for a better venue. The Tigers new left-handed starter is very comfortable in Yankee Stadium.  Price is 6-2 with a 3.57 ERA in Yankee Stadium and is not at all bothered by the bright lights of the Big Apple.

The Tigers need a gem from Price tonight in order to have a shot at winning the series following a frustration 2-1 loss on Monday.

Game Notes

Eugenio Suarez is out after injuring his knee in Monday nights loss to the Yankee’s.  The Tigers are waiting on MRI results but according to a tweet by Chris Iott of MLive all sign are encouraging so far.

Torri Hunter will be batting fifth in tonight’s line-up as Rajaj Davis gets a chance to lead off bumping Kinsler down to the second spot.  Hunter will protect Victor Martinez who has been on a tear over the last four games.
