Justin Verlander Might Not Need Trip To DL

After last nights early exit for shoulder soreness, Justin Verlander was very concerned about a possible serious injury to his pitching arm. Verlander’s one inning outing had Tigers fans panicking about the teams ability to win the AL Central.

What a difference a day makes.

Today Brad Ausmus and the Tigers can breathe a little easier today after receiving good news about their pitchers evaluation.

It looks like Justin Verlander won’t have to make a trip to the DL as first feared.  That said he will probably miss a start to rest his inflamed shoulder.

To fill in the gap the Tigers will call upon Robbie Ray to make Verlanders next start on Sunday.

Verlanders shoulder may be okay but the Tigers are still faced with the task of climbing back into first place without 40% of their starting rotation. The climb starts tonight against another team trying to stay atop the division standings , the Pittsburgh Pirates.
