The Detroit Lions take on the Oakland Raiders tonight from the O.Co Coliseum at 10:00 pm EST. The Oakland Raiders should be fired up for this one after brawling with the Dallas Cowboys during practice in Los Angeles.
The Detroit Lions will take their intense team-first attitude into a hostile environment.
During the preseason you don’t really count on wins and losses but the Detroit Lions will still be looking for some development from players as the approach the first round of cuts.
Here are this weeks keys to the game:
1. Continued Progression – The back-ups will get a lot of reps in this game in an effort to determine who will be “next man in” off the bench. The Detroit Lions coaching staff will be looking for progress in the development of players like Theo Riddick, Kellen Moore, Joseph Fauria and CJ Mosely.
2. Penalty Free - The Detroit Lions played a relatively penalty free game against the Browns. The coaching staff will be looking for that to continue as they press upon players to focus and play a controlled game.
3. Stay Healthy – The Lions have been healthy so far this preseason and they would like to keep it that way. That is why they will most likely limit the reps for starters like Reggie Bush, Calvin Johnson and Matt Stafford as they let the younger players fight for a spot on the roster.
