The Detroit Lions vs. Jacksonville Jaguars will kickoff at 7:30 pm/ET on Friday, August 22, 2014 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. The Lions announced Wednesday that the game has sold-out and will be shown live locally on WXYZ Channel 7. It is the third game of four for Detroit this preseason.
While it is still an exhibition contest, the game doesn’t lack significance. Lions head coach Jim Caldwell said on Wednesday that fans should get a long look at the team’s starters against the Jaguars. In fact, the entire first half will feature both the first-team offense and defense.
Individual tickets for regular season games remain on sale, but are going quickly. According to team president Tom Lewand, multiple games were nearing a sellout before individual tickets even went on sale.
“We’ve tried to hold back some tickets for every game so that some individual ticket holders will have access to those,” Lewand said at the start of training camp in late July. “But obviously, Thanksgiving, Monday Night, things are getting pretty tight. Green Bay, those are all going to be real high demand. We won’t have a lot of availability and I’m presuming what we do have will go quickly.”
The Lions also sold out the team’s preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns, a game that was the most viewed exhibition contest in NFL Network history.
