Whether your league requires that you start a tight end or they are just lumped in with the wide receivers, you can’t ignore this position on draft day.  Players like Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham have changed the position in a way not seen since Mark Bavaro.  With PPR formats the tight end is more valuable than ever.

Positional Draft Strategy

Although they can be game changers, there is one tight end worthy of a high pick and that is Jimmy Graham.  Otherwise fantasy owners should not look to draft a tight end until at least the 4th or 5th round.

2014 Fantasy Football Rankings Tight Ends

10. Eric Ebron – Detroit Lions

Ebron had a rough start to training camp and the preseason but has bounced back.  In the third preseason game he showed fans exactly what he was capable off by spring Reggie Bush on a 87 yard touchdown run while catching both passes thrown to him in thrid down situations.  Its is that kind of play that will earn Ebron a chance to put up solid numbers in his rookie season.

9. Vernon Davis – San Fransisco 49ers

Vernon DMatravis was clutch for the Niners last season.  Owners can expect to lean on him heavily again to the tune of double-digit touchdowns.
