The Big Ten has realigned the conference again after adding Rutgers and Maryland in the offseason.  Both of the newcomers could make some waves this season but usual suspects atop the Big Ten will battle once again for conference supremacy.

Preseason Big Ten Power Rankings

14. Purdue Boilermakers

Special teams and offensive line issues will be too much for the Boilermakers to overcome despite having speedy playmakers on offense. In fact the Boilermakers could have problems in week one against Western Michigan.

13. Northwestern Wildcats

There are too many questions surrounding the Northwestern Wildcats after injuries decimated the offense in 2013.  Then the off-season vote to unionize by the players set off a firestorm that head coach Pat Fitzgerald at odds with his players.  There is too much adversity surrounding this team to rank them any higher than 13.

12. Rutgers Scarlet Knights

The Scarlet Knights landed in the toughest division in the Big Ten.  They have a favorable non-conference schedule that will allow them to start strong but with games against the Big Ten’s elite on the schedule they will stumble down the stretch.
