  • Ford Field will be rockin’ as the heavily talented Lions will truly debut the schemes of new coordinators, Joe Lombardi and Teryl Austin.

Lombardi comes over from New Orleans, bringing much of the plays and philosophies that made the Saints contenders for the past five seasons while he was Drew Brees’ quarterbacks coach.

Furthermore, he’ll have no shortage of talent on the offensive side of the ball. Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson, Reggie Bush, and Joique Bell all return. Added is former Seattle Seahawk, Golden Tate and first-round pick of the NFL Draft, Eric Ebron. Ebron has drawn comparisons to Saints tight end, Jimmy Graham.

With so much talent on the field at the same time, it will ideally be impossible to defend.

On the defensive side Teryl Austin will debut his blitz heavy, “get after the quarterback” game plan. Austin comes over from the Baltimore Ravens where he was the defensive backs coach. The fit couldn’t be better as the Lions have a young, but talented cornerback at the No. 1 position this season, Darius Slay.

Slay will be put to the test on Monday night against Giants wideouts, Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle.
