Detroit Lions

It was a busy week for the Detroit Lions, even though only really one thing happened all week. The Lions decided not to place the franchise tag on defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. This caused fans to wonder what exactly it meant for the Lions and Suh. Some think Suh will leave Detroit for more money from another town, while others think the Lions and Suh will make a deal sometime soon.

There seems to be a divide in people who think the Lions need to sign Suh, while other think that no Ndamukong Suh is no Ndamukong problem. Either way the Lions have until the 10th to sign Suh or he can leave to go any team he wants. Here at Detroit Jock City we looked at how free agency works and how it affects the Detroit Lions.

Detroit Red Wings

The NHL trade deadline was this past Monday and of course many wondered if the Detroit Red Wings would do anything this year after being a team that is usually pretty quiet most years around the deadline. This season though, they were actually movers and shakers rather than lookers and viewers. Yet this years moves were not super flashy, but they were productive.

The Red Wings obtained Erik Cole from the Dallas Stars. The trade sent draft picks and two not so well-known prospects to the Stars. Cole is thought to be a good pickup for the Red Wings because it give them a big left wing which they would have needed as they march to the playoffs for the 25th season in a row.

The Red Wings also picked up another veteran presence in Marek Zidlicky from the New Jersey Devils. With this trade again the Red Wings gave up basically nothing super important. The Red Wings gave up no players for Zidlicky. They did give up at most two draft picks, depending on the final position of the Red Wings in the playoff the Devils would decide this in the end.

Detroit Pistons

This week in Detroit Pistons basketball it was questioned if the Pistons are running out of gas on the season. The team is on a four game losing streak and our headed out of a hardship of a west coast trip for the month of March.

A team that at one time was soaring high and playing great basketball after the releasing of Josh Smith seemed to turn the team around. They even started making moves at the trade deadline last month.

  • Maybe it was the messing with team chemistry that has caused this team to start playing bad. Maybe it is just a team running out of gas on the season. Only time will tell if this team can make it. Yet time is running out and with a long string of losses could cause the Pistons to fall out of contention for the final playoff spot in the Eastern conference.

    Detroit Tigers

The Detroit Tigers started playing their spring training games this week and it has been a great week watching baseball again. This week at DJC we looked at Tigers players that you should be watching this spring. From players such as Justin Verlander to newcomers to the team like Anthony Gose.
