The Detroit Red Wings head home to finish their season series with the Anaheim Ducks tonight. The Red Wings are coming off a 3-0 win against the Sabres.

The Detroit Red Wings, coming off a 3-0 shutout win against the Buffalo Sabres last night, return to the Joe to face an Anaheim Ducks team that shockingly would be out of the playoffs if they started today.

Last night’s game against Buffalo was tight until Dylan Larkin scored the first goal late in the game which proved to be the winner. Henrik Zetterberg and Luke Glendening added goals as the Red Wings head home to face the Ducks.

Coming into tonight’s game the Anaheim Ducks are dead last in the NHL in scoring and sixth in goals given up. The Ducks still have Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf but Getzlaf only has three goals of the season.

The Anaheim Ducks had their game with the Washington Capitals postponed last night due to the snowstorm in Washington D.C., so they’ve been in Detroit resting for a night whereas the Red Wings probably didn’t land back in the city until 2:00 a.m.

Jeff Blashill said he will name a starter today but it’s clear this is Petr Mrazek‘s job to lose so in my opinion he should be the main guy but this being the second game of a back to back, expect Jimmy Howard to be the starter tonight.

Here is all the important information for tonight’s game:

72. . 105. Final.

My prediction for tonight is actually a high scoring game by the Red Wings standards. 4-3 Wings win. I think Howard struggles in net but the Red Wings end up pulling out a victory.

With only two games left before the all star break, including tonight, the Red Wings could possibly catch the Florida Panthers for the division lead…. but the Red Wings have to win tonight to have a shot at passing the Panthers.
