The Detroit Red Wings return from an extended All Star break to face the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Red Wings have had nine days off from their last game.

The Detroit Red Wings open the second half of the season tonight against the suddenly red hot Tampa Bay Lightning. The Lightning are 8-2 in their last ten games while the Red Wings are 6-3-1 in their last ten.

The Red Wings are coming off a win against the New York Islanders last Monday to end the first half on a winning note.

The Lightning, with all the drama surrounding Steven Stamkos have managed to climb into a second place tie in the Atlantic Divison. They are currently tied with the Red Wings at 58 points, both teams are seven points behind the Florida Panthers for the Division lead.

Steven Stamkos is the Lightning leader in goals with 21 all while dealing with the uncertainty of his future. The Lightning are also led by youngster Nikita Kucherov.

This is the first time the Red Wings have been in Tampa Bay since being ousted by the Lightning in the first round of last years playoffs.
